IT Manager (fulltime, based in Amsterdam)

About the job

Yellowbrick International is a 100% subsidiary of the Flowbird Group and responsible for the development and support of the Flowbird App, Yellowbrick app and WayToPark app and their back office platforms. The development team is a mix of international Yellowbrick Team members who are direct reports, and subcontractors that the manager will have under his / her functional responsibility. As an IT manager, you will:

  • Organize, drive and monitor our activities related to software development, testing and application management
  • Constantly strive to improve processes around those same activities
  • Manage the development team so that the team is following agile development methods, including frequent deliveries, automatic unit testing, sprints
  • Enhance the implementation rules and the architecture together with the group of technical leaders
  • Update the detailed planning and resources allocations every two weeks, update the costs tracking and expenses forecast every month
  • Organize the level 2 support with the group of application managers. Set up a 24 / 7 on call duty
  • Manage the IT team on day to day basis

Responsibilities

Software Delivery:

  • Manage the detailed planning and the long term capacity planning
  • Allocate the right resources to the right squads
  • Follow up costs and update expenses forecast
  • Organize the work on architecture with the group of technical leaders
  • Organize the testing activities, especially load testing and automated tests
  • Regular follow-up of development team members activity, including bi weekly re-evaluation of the remaining workload versus expected planning
  • Propose and put in place enhancements of the development process

Application Management:

  • Organize and improve the level 2 support process (issues ranking, issues treatment, communication, escalation)
  • Set up a 24/7 on call duty

Team Management:

  • Perform yearly evaluations and set objectives
  • Ensures the development team members functional & technical skills development through trainings and coaching, and supports them whenever necessary
  • Participates in the recruitment process, by interviewing candidates, evaluating their technical skills, and providing recruitment advices
  • Provide approval for team members holidays
  • Manage descending communication to the development team members

What you bring to the table

  • Minimum of Higher Vocational Education (HBO)
  • 5 years minimum of experience as a software developer / tester
  • 3 years minimum of experience as manager of software development team, with a track-record of achieved successes
  • 5 years minimum of experience in working in agile process (either as a developer or as a manager)
  • Experience in web / mobile software development is a plus
  • Fluent business English is a must, Dutch is a plus
  • Good communication skills, both oral and in written
  • Willingness to implement and accompany changes
  • Capacity to define plans and to achieve corresponding targets
